Police are investigating a suspicious house fire in South Grafton yesterday.

Just before 2pm, emergency services were called to Maxwell Avenue after reports a house was on fire.

Fire crews attended and put out the blaze.

Police also attended, and set up a crime scene.

Meanwhile, police are continuing investigations into another suspicious, but unrelated, house fire on January 1.

Emergency services were called to a home on Angorphora Way at South Grafton, about 3.50am.

Once fire crews extinguished the blaze, police set up a crime scene.

The damage from the fire is approximately $250,000.

Jewellery and war medals were also reported missing from the home.

Police are looking for man who was seen near the Angorphora Way fire.

He is described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander in appearance, aged in his mid 20s, with a thin build. He was wearing a white shirt and a gold chain.

Detectives are treating both blazes as suspicious, and want to speak to anyone who was in either areaa at the time.
