MAN DIES IN THREE-CAR CRASH ON THE MID NORTH COAST
A man has died after three cars collided on the mid north coast overnight.
Emergency services were called to the Forster / Tuncurry bridge on Manning Street shortly after 9pm, following reports of a vehicle on fire after a crash.
When crews arrived, they saw a Holden Statesman engulfed in flames.
The driver had crashed into a Nissan Navara and a Mazda hatchback.
Two off-duty police officers tried to help the man, but he sadly died at the scene.
He is yet to be formally identified.
The 48-year-old male driver of the Nissan and 41-year-old female driver of the Mazda were taken to Manning Base Hospital for mandatory testing.
The off-duty officers were treated for smoke inhalation and taken to hospital as a precaution.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
