WORK BEGINS ON REVETMENT WALL AT SOLDIERS POINT
Construction has begun on a new revetment rock wall on the Soldiers Point foreshore, north of the marina.
It’s hoped the wall will help to stem coastal erosion, as well as provide a safer connection between the boat ramp, carpark and marina.
The project has been funded by both Port Stephens Council and the Australian Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Fund.
Port Stephens Mayor Ryan Palmer has assured the community the works wouldn’t interfere with the unique landscape and Aboriginal cultural significance of the site.
“The upgrades will also improve accessibility for the local community and visitors to the area around the headland,” he said.
“The works will also ensure we protect our unique landscape and significant Aboriginal Place to conserve its cultural significance.
They’re expected to be complete by June.
