Work on a new children’s bike track is underway at Townhead Park in Singleton.
The local council was granted $360,000 for park upgrades from the federal government under the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.
Alongside the bike track, 588 square metres of paving will be completed, as well as the installation of a bridge, hummocks, children’s road signage and landscaping – including 24 new trees and 1800 metres square of new turf.
Justin Fitzpatrick-Barr from Singleton Council says the project is an exciting change.
“We know how important this site is as a hub for recreation and play for visitors, but also how significant this facility is for our local community based on how often families used the old bike track,” he said.
“The relocated track is the final piece of the puzzle for the new play area and has been designed to utilise the underused grass area in the north western corner of the park,” said Mr Fitzpatrick-Barr.
It’s on track to be completed by April, just in time for school holidays.
