JETS VAN EGMOND BANNED FOR TWO GAMES

Newcastle Jets coach Gary van Egmond has been found guilty of bringing the game into disrepute, because of his actions after the final whistle in Sunday’s clash with Perth.

Football Federation Australia today handed Van Egmond a four match sideline ban and a fine of $2,000.

But thanks to his unreserved apology and previous good record, two of the matches and the fine are suspended until the end of the season.

The punishment will apply for rounds 12 and 13, where van Egmond will have restricted access to his players, the field of play and media within a five hour period.

CEO John Tsatsimas says the Jets accept the FFA’s decision, but added the coach still has the club’s support.
