There’s been a breakthrough for mental health in the north-west.
Member for Tamworth, Kevin Anderson, and Hunter New England Health, today announcing a site has been selected for a new ‘Banksia’ mental health unit.
The unit will be located next to the main building at Tamworth Base Hospital and will cater for 30 per cent more patients than the current facility.
“Now we need to build the facility to match the services, so, the next process is to do that detailed design plan phase and then we look at turning a sod.”
Construction timeframes for the project are yet to be determined.
For several years now, families have pushed for a new, modern facility that is able to treat more patients at a time.
