SUMMERLAND FARM UPGRADES TO BOOST TOURISM AND JOBS

Alstonville’s Summerland Farm is one step closer to completing its $6 million upgrade.

Opening its retail hub today, and adventure playground in time for the weekend, the new Farm is set to boost tourism in the region, and provide more employment opportunities.

“This is going to mean that more people with a disability have a job here. And what it does and rejuvenate what is a tourism icon in our region to a new level,” Kevin Hogan MP, Federal Member for Page said.

“One of the ones that is really hotly in demand is around the miniature animals that we’re going to have on site, so we’re looking at miniature donkeys, miniature cows and miniature goats as well,” Brett Lacey, Executive General Mangager, said.

The farm already sees more than 80,000 visitors a year, and is hoping to attract many more thousands once the upgrades are complete by the end of the year.
