19 NEW CASES IN NEW SOUTH WALES

All of metropolitan Sydney has now been declared a coronavirus hotspot by the Queensland government.

From 1am on Saturday, the Queensland border will be closed to people coming from Sydney.

It comes as two new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Queensland with two 19-year-old women testing positive after returning from interstate.

Meanwhile, 19 new COVID-19 cases have been recorded in New South Wales this morning.

Of those cases:

  • two are already in hotel quarantine
  • 10 have been linked to Sydney’s Thai Rock restaurant cluster
  • two are linked to Thai Rock’s sister restaurant in Potts Point
  • one is a staff member at the Apollo restaurant which is also in Potts Point
  • and one is linked to the Crossroads Hotel cluster.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian has announced restrictions for gyms will be tightened, saying all venues now require a permanent marshal at all times.

“All gyms need to have a COVID-marshal in place, including gyms who have a business model where no staff are present,” she said.
