HOUSE PARTY TURNS VIOLENT AT MOREE – POLICE ALLEGEDLY ASSAULTED
Police in Moree were allegedly assaulted overnight, when they were called to break up a violent brawl outside a house party.
Officers were called to Adelaide Street, just after midnight, to disperse a crowd of approximately 100 people who were gathered in a front yard.
When they arrived, a large brawl between party guests was underway.
While police attempted to disperse the crowd, it’s alleged some people became violent and started throwing bottles at police vehicles.
A male constable suffered bruising to the face during the incident.
Capsicum spray was deployed and four people were arrested and taken to Moree Police Station.
A 22-year-old man was charged with refuse/fail to comply with direction, affray, assault police officer in execution of duty cause actual bodily harm, three counts of assault officer in execution of duty, resist officer in execution of duty, intimidate police officer in execution of duty, possess prohibited drug, and possess car breaking implements.
A 26-year-old man was also charged with assault officer in execution of duty, resist officer in execution of duty, and affray.
They’ve both been refused bail to appear before Moree Local Court today.
Meanwhile a 35-year-old woman was charged with affray and violent disorder.
She was granted conditional bail to appear before Moree Local Court on the 28th of August.
Later that night, police were patrolling the same street, when they found another fight between two men aged 29 and 33.
It’s believed the older man allegedly drove his car towards the younger man, coming to a stop in front of him.
A fight then took place.
They were both arrested and charged with common assault (DV).
The older man was additional charged with drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous.
