WOMAN CHARGED AFTER ALLEGEDLY SPITTING ON SUPERMARKET SECURITY GUARD
A Raymond Terrace woman has been charged after allegedly spitting on a Woolworths security guard overnight.
The woman was shopping inside the Terrace Central Shopping Centre at around 9pm, when the security guard asked her to move to the register as the store was closing.
Police say the woman ignored the security guard’s orders.
When the guard asked the woman to leave the store for a second time, it’s alleged she spat in his face and began hitting him with her bag.
Employees from the supermarket rushed to the guard’s aid and the woman was escorted from the store.
After reviewing CCTV and interviewing witnesses, officers from Port Stephen-Hunter Police District arrested her at a Raymond Terrace home.
The 41-year-old was taken to the local police station where she charged with common assault and offensive behaviour.
She was granted conditional bail and will appear in Raymond Terrace Local Court on Monday 20 July 2020.
