POLICE URGE COMMUNITY TO COMMEMORATE UPCOMING EVENTS SAFELY
Police are reminding the community to commemorate upcoming religious and cultural events, including Easter, Ramadan and Passover, safely this year by not congregating in groups, and avoiding all non-essential travel.
Officers are emphasising social distancing is crucial to stop the spread of COVID-19 within the community.
Assistant Police Commissioner Peter Thurtell says being apart now will give us the best chance of being together in the future.
βIt is a time where changing our behaviour is not about breaking tradition, but rather, ensuring that we have a future for traditions that have transformed through this experience,β said Comm. Thurtell.
People are being reminded to stay at least 1.5 meters away from others, and to only visit family if essential or for compassionate reasons.
Those quarantining should continue to follow strict instructions.
Anyone with information about people or businesses breaking restriction laws should contact Crime Stoppers.
