18-YEAR-OLD TO FACE THE MUSIC AFTER ALLEGEDLY SELLING FAKE WRISTBANDS FOR FESTIVAL OF THE SUN

An 18-year-old man will face court next year after allegedly forging dozens of fake wristbands at a music festival on the state’s Mid North Coast.

Last week (Thursday 12 December to Saturday 14 December 2019), police carried out an operation at Festival of the Sun at Port Macquarie.

Whilst policing the event, officers detected three persons with fake wristbands inside the festival.

Following further inquiries, today (Friday 20 December 2019) police attended a home on Ballina Crescent, Port Macquarie, and spoke with an 18-year-old man.

Police will allege the he printed over 50 fraudulent wristbands and sold them to festival goers.

He is due to face Port Macquarie Local Court on Wednesday 19 February 2020.

Two 17-year-old teenage boys will also be dealt with under the Young Offenders Act for allegedly selling fake wristbands in unrelated matters.

Police are continuing to investigate the sale and use of forged wristbands at the Festival of the Sun music festival.
