Former Northern Region police commander Carlene York has been named SES Commissioner.
Her appointment comes after a distinguished policing career, during which she led responses to storms and bushfires, as well as the taskforce that captured notorious fugitive Malcolm Naden.
Ms York takes over from Acting Commissioner Kyle Stewart, next month.
