MAN CHARGED OVER ALLEGED KIDNAPPING IN THE HUNTER
A man’s been refused bail in Maitland Local Court over the alleged kidnapping and assault of a woman.
The 28-year-old is accused of assaulting the 26-year-old woman while travelling in a Holden Commodore along the Pacific Highway at Adamstown Heights at around 8am on Monday morning.
Police say he continued driving into Newcastle – stopping on King Street – where the woman managed to escape.
She ran to Newcastle Court House and reported the matter to police.
Later that evening police claim the 28-year-old man forced the woman into a Holden Commodore while she walking along a street in West Wallsend.
He then allegedly drove to Pokolbin, then onto a home at Cessnock, before dropping her at a hotel.
Officers arrested the 28-year-old on Tuesday afternoon and charged him with five-offences.
