An investigation is underway after a pedestrian was killed at Sandgate west of Newcastle on Friday evening.
Emergency services were called to Maitland Road around 8:30pm, after reports a 72-year-old man had been struck by a number of cars.
Initial reports suggest the man had stepped off the medium strip when he was struck by a city bound vehicle, with the impact throwing him into the path of two other vehicles.
He died at the scene, while the drivers were taken to hospital for mandatory testing.
