Across the Oxley and New England districts, police say we’re on the right track, but still too many drivers are taking risks behind the wheel.
More than 12,500 breath tests were conducted during Operation Safe Arrival, and around 40 people were charged for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
“Our fatals for the region are down this year and we will endeavour to get towards zero during 2019.”
But police say no matter what time of year it is, many road accidents are avoidable.
“Slow down, look after your family, look after other road users and get home safely.”
