TAMWORTH TO PUSH FOR PFAS COMPENSATION
Tamworth Regional Council says it will keep pressuring the Federal Government to be compensated for PFAS contamination at the city’s airport.
Local governments were not included in an inquiry into PFAS contamination, which had recommendations handed down this week.
“That was all centred around defence sites, but we’re very hopeful that the recommendations, if adopted by the Federal Government, will be a positive thing for our issue as well,” Ross Briggs, Tamworth Regional Council.
Those recommendations include compensation, and Council believes it should get it’s fair share.
It says contamination occurred over 32-years, while the Commonwealth Fire Service was in operation at the site.
