TWO CHARGED OVER TOMAGO COPPER WIRE THEFT
Police have charged two men in relation to the theft of approximately 940-kilograms of copper wire in the Hunter during November.
It’s alleged the men drove a 4WD onto land owned by Hunter Water in Tomago, and removed the wire from the ground.
In the early hours of Monday morning, police were conducting an operation at the site when it’s believed two vehicles entered the enclosed lands and were allegedly preparing to remove the wiring.
One man, a 47-year-old was arrested and taken to Raymond Terrace Police Station where he was charged with larceny and trespass.
Another 38-year-old man was later arrested at his home in Anna Bay. He was also charged with larceny and trespass.
Both were granted conditional bail and will appear in Raymond Terrace Local Court on December 17.
