A 20-year-old woman has been fined almost $2,500 and docked six demerit points, after she was caught travelling almost 80km/h over the speed limit near Tamworth.
Local police stopped the woman on the New England Highway around 35 kilometres south of the town at around 10 o’clock on Sunday night, after her Hyundai Veloster was detected travelling at 178km/h in a 100km/h zone.
The woman’s licence was suspended, while the car’s number plates have been confiscated for three months.
