MAITLAND’S ADAM CLYDSDALE WINS NEWCASTLE RUGBY LEAGUE’S TOP AWARD

Former NRL hooker Adam Clydsdale has outclassed Souths fullback Lachlan Walmsley and Central half Brad Murray, to win Newcastle Rugby League’s Player of the Year award.
The Maitland number nine also claimed Player’s Player, alleviating some of the disappointment from the Pickers early exit from the finals.
“All the people in the right places now. The club’s definitely going forward. It’s a good place to be so plenty of good times ahead.”
Rookie of the Year went to Cessnock’s Harry O’Brien.
“I actually want to thank Alan Lantry our coach this year he took a big risk putting a kid who’s got no first grade experience and weighs about 50 kilos as his fullback this year.”
Todd Edwards won the coach’s award, after guiding Lakes to the minor premiership, while Rachel Sharpe was voted players’ player for ladies league tag.
