RARE AND DANGEROUS JELLYFISH DISCOVERED IN LAKE MACQUARIE
A rare and dangerous jellyfish has been spotted in Lake Macquarie.
The Morbakka fenneri jellyfish was discovered hiding among mangroves in Mannering Bay by two marine researchers from the Australian Museum.
Lake Macquarie Council has issued a warning to the community to be on the lookout.
It’s sting can cause symptoms of Irukandji syndrome, which may include nausea, vomiting, severe lower back pain, breathing difficulties, profuse sweating, severe cramps and spasms.
