Local fire crews were kept busy this afternoon by a grass fire on the New England Highway, at Kootingal.
RFS and Fire and Rescue crews were needed to contain the blaze, which started around 2pm.
It quickly burnt through five hectares, but it was quickly brought under control with most of the flames extinguished within an hour.
No homes or buildings were threatened.
