Bush footy’s best young stars will take on Scotland in a World Cup warm-up in Ballina tomorrow night.
And the Country Under 23 side knows it’s a big chance to push their NRL credentials…among them, South Newcastle’s Jake Lawrence.
“There’s been a bit of talk this week about boys thinking there’s a possibility about having one more shot. Bit of optimism. It was good just to see where you’re at compared to those boys who train five days a week and that’s their life.”
Last week Country went down to Samoa 40-26… But ran in tries late to give them a scare… On the scorer’s list, Lakes United’s Kyle Kennedy.
“It was a great feeling actually, just getting across the line., let alone playing. It was a great experience playing against the boys. It was very daunting at the start, but once we got on the field, it was a great experience and I loved it… Loved being out there.”
