Police are appealing for witnesses, following an armed hold up at a Taree newsagency this morning.
Just after 10 o’clock, a man confronted a female shop assistant at the Muldoon Street premises – she the only person in the store at the time.
“A male person, dressed in all black clothing, face covered, hoodie, long pants, has entered a store with what’s being described at this stage as a long cutting weapon,” said Insp. Fidock.
Police say there was a physical altercation between the man and the shop assistant.
The woman was taken to Manning Base Hospital to be treated for cuts and abrasions.
