Some high level cloud affected parts of the region this afternoon thanks to the jet stream.
It was still very hot for September across northern NSW.
Tomorrow a cooler breeze from the south will drop temperatures slightly, but the Moree Plains and inland areas of the north-west will still be hot.
The extreme heat will move back in on Thursday.
