SURFER RESCUED FROM MASSIVE SWELL
A reminder for people to be sensible in the large surf, after two people were swept out to sea off Port Macquarie.
An off-duty lifeguard came to the rescue of a bodyboarder, struggling off Town Beach after losing his board yesterday morning.
Less than an hour later, another man was swept out in the run-off tide.
Conditions are expected to ease tomorrow, but another dangerous swell could return next weekend.
“Definitely no swimming, experienced surfers if they know what they’re doing, they can go out, but make sure you’re letting someone know where you’re going, and make sure you call 000 if you see anyone in trouble,” Lifeguard Supervisor James Turnham said.
