A low pressure trough continues to drench the NSW north coast and southeast Queensland, with some regions receiving more than a month’s worth of rain in a weekend.
The persistent and heavy rain has caused minor flooding in some areas.
Lismore recorded about 160mm of rainfall over the last two days, well above the June monthly average of 100mm.
Casino, Evans Head, Yamba, Coffs Harbour, and Port Macquarie also gained more than a month’s worth of rain in about two days.
The Bureau of Meteorology has issued flood warnings for a number of waterways, including Wilsons River, Richmond River, Marshalls Creek, Tweed River, Brunswick River, Hastings River, Orara River, Bellinger and Kalang Rivers, Nambucca River, and the Coffs Coast.
The trough should intensify over the next few days, with 50-150mm of rain likely between the Sunshine Coast and Yamba.
The system appears to be heading south, bringing rain to the Hunter later in the week.
