After it returned this year for the first time since 2013, Armidale Jockey Club has applied to council for a half-day public holiday for its major annual event.
It’s hoped those in town will get the afternoon off work for next year’s Armidale Cup, to be held on March 19, 2018.
The club reported a much larger crowd for this year’s event, due to the re-instatement of the holiday.
A decision on whether the Council will support it will be made in October, after the election.
