LEVY TO SUPPORT TEA TREE INDUSTRY
Mid north coast tea tree growers are set to benefit from a new Research and Development levy funded by the Commonwealth.
The government will match up to $720,000 in industry money over four years, to help find new ways to remain competitive overseas.
“It gives us the capacity to make sure that our industry, our own home grown tea tree industry, with a home grown plant, stays at the forefront of the global market,” Federal Agriculture Minister Barnaby Joyce said.
An emergency plant pest response levy has also been announced, to help deal with bio-security threats.
