DRIVER UNINJURED AFTER CAR BECOMES STUCK AT LEVEL CROSSING AND HIT BY A TRAIN
A woman has had a lucky escape, after her vehicle become stuck on a level crossing on the Central Coast.
Police believe the 65-year-old woman attempted a left turn as she drove over the crossing on Rawson Road in Woy Woy shortly after 6pm yesterday.
The vehicle became stuck on the tracks as the boom gates and bells activated for an oncoming train.
Members of the public tried to move the car, but were unsuccessful.
The approaching train was able to apply the emergency brakes and slow down, but was unable to avoid a minor crash.
No one was in the vehicle at the time and there were no injures.
The train was not damaged, while the car suffered minor damage.
The train and car drivers were both breath tested – both returned a negative result.
