MAN PINNED UNDER ATV ON BLACKSMITHS BEACH

A man assisting in the manouevring of a vehicle became pinned underneath it on a Lake Macquarie beach yesterday.

Just before 2pm, two men, aged 46 and 48, were guiding an ATV backwards on Blacksmiths Beach, when they were struck by the vehicle.

The 46-year-old was pinned under the vehicle for a short period before it was lifted off by other bystanders.

He was conveyed by ambulance to John Hunter Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The older man sustained an injury to his foot and was treated at the scene.

The driver of the ATV, a 53-year-old man, was spoken to by police at the scene. Police do not believe alcohol was involved.

Inquiries are continuing.
