$3.25-MILLION IN FUNDS TO HELP MEND THE NEW ENGLAND NORTH WEST
Tamworth’s Centacare has received a healthy funding boost from the federal government, to roll-out an Indigenous mental health program across the North West.
Executive Manager Lea (LEE) Sharpe says the first 12 months of the program will be crucial in breaking down the widespread community stigma.
“It’ll be very much about building community awareness, building services and bringing services together, bringing family into the community and getting isolated people together, that will be the most crucial part of this.”
The funds are part of a wider $3.25-million dollar investment in the New England North West.
St Vincent de Paul was granted $1.3-million dollars to set up the region’s first short-term drug and alcohol treatment facility.
