SURFER’S LIFE SAVED BY OFF-DUTY LIFEGUARD AND PARAMEDIC
A surfer’s life has been saved in extraordinary circumstances south of Newcastle.
The 65-year-old man had returned to shore from a morning surf at Frenchman’s Beach when he collapsed.
Incredibly, an off-duty Lifeguard who was going for a surf saw it happen, and began performing CPR. On top of that, an off-duty paramedic who was also on the beach, began helping.
A second lifeguard rushed from Caves Beach with a defibrillator and the patient was brought back to life.
The man was flown to the John Hunter Hospital on the Westpac Rescue Helicopter where he’s believed to be in a serious but stable condition. He was suffering a laceration to his head after hitting his head on his surfboard ,when he collapsed.
