Meanwhile the $60-million upgrade of Armidale Hospital is progressing, with the new four-storey building beginning to take shape.
“The second storey of the redevelopment, the concrete has been poured and in the next couple of weeks we’ll see the third storey concrete pour and work is progressing very quickly.”
The new building will house a critical care unit and and new emergency ward – while a new intensive care unit will be placed in the existing hospital building.
“Still very much on track for completion of that construction by the end of the calendar year. Then there’s a lot of internal re-fit work to be done as well, in the existing hospital as well as the new structure.”
