75 WE Smith workers remain in the dark about their future tonight after returning to work from holidays earlier this week, only to find the Boambee factory gates closed.
Employees of the engineering company today met with local politicians, including Luke Hartsuyker.
Ongoing financial hardship has plagued the business for the past two years.
“We want to keep it running, but we want to see some positive effort by management, some straight talking by management, giving you the facts.”
“We’ve got some jobs to do, as far as getting the quantum around, you know, what’s actually owed, so we can get the information back to these guys.”
The Company CEO, who is overseas, today sent a letter to Mr Hartsuyker, outlining grievances with union interference and claiming that employees’ pay is currently being processed.
