MAN CHARGED AFTER ALLEGED DUI ALONG BEACH PATH

A man has been charged and had his license suspended, after he was found driving his car along a beachside footpath in Kingscliff last night, allegedly intoxicated.

Police were called at about 6:30pm with reports the 65 year-old man was driving his Ford Focus on the busy stretch that’s shared by cyclists and pedestrians, crashing into a number of signs and railings.

After returning a positive roadside breath test, he was arrested and taken to Kingscliff Police Station where he allegedly returned a reading of 0.198.

He’ll appear in Tweed Heads Local Court on January 9 next year.
