$400,000 IN CASH DISCOVERED DURING OPERATION NORTHMORE
$400,000 in cash has been discovered concealed in a van during Operation Northmore in the state’s far north.
During the three-day operation, officers targeted heavy vehicles and the transport of illegal drugs across the New South Wales-Queensland border.
Some of the major incidents resulting from the operation include:
– A Toyota High-Ace van was stopped and searched shortly after 5pm on Wednesday on the Newell Highway at Bogabilla. Police allegedly located over $400,000 in cash, concealed in a compartment. The 24-year-old male driver was charged with possessing proceeds of crime, and goods in custody.
– A 23-year-old Bogabilla woman with a learner’s licence returned a blood-alcohol reading of 0.160. She was charged with high range drink-driving. In the same vehicle, the learners supervisor – a 56-year-old woman – was also charged with mid-range drink-driving after returning a reading of 0.117.
– A 31-year-old old man from Queensland was charged with high range drink-driving after returning a reading of 0.190.
Operation Notthmore began on Tuesday and concluded yesterday.
