STRIKE FORCE BENNI YEILDS ARRESTS OVER SERVICE STATION HOLD-UPS
Police from Strike Force Benni have made an arrest this morning in relation to a string of service station hold-ups across the Hunter Region this year.
About 10am today, police arrested a 22-year-old man, at a car park on Lawes Street, East Maitland as a result of their investigations.
Police also executed a search warrant at a property on George Street, East Maitland, where items were seized as part of the investigation.
As investigations continue, police are now appealing for anyone with information in relation to the armed robbery of a service station on the Pacific Highway at Heatherbrae on Tuesday 7 June, to come forward.
According to police, two men entered the premises, one of whom was armed with a syringe, before fleeing with cash and cigarettes. No one was injured during the incident.
The men then fled the scene in a white station wagon with a third man and woman.
Strike Force Benni was established earlier this year to investigate a number of armed robberies at service stations in Muswellbrook, Maitland, Raymond Terrace, Heatherbrae and Islington in June and July this year.
