CITY OF LIGHT CELEBRATES 128TH ANNIVERSARY
It was the first town in Australia to introduce the electric street light and today the City of Light celebrated the 128th anniversary at Tamworth’s Powerstation Museum.
The museum opened in 1988 and is a working re-creation of the original powerstation, which first produced electricity in 1888.
Today two John Fowler steam engines were fired up for the celebrations – the only ones of their kind in the world.
