A surfer has had a close encounter with a shark – but probably didn’t even realise it at first.
The predator was filmed casually swimming underneath the surfer at Byron Bay, before approaching a group paddling in the water.
The American traveller who shot the vision says onlookers alerted authorities.
The close call follows a spate of attacks on the New South Wales north coast in the past 18 months.
