Work is progressing on the upgrade of the Horseshoe Bay playground at South West Rocks.
The $250,000 project is a joint effort between Kempsey Shire Council and the South West Rocks Sport and Recreation Association.
The site is being expanded to include more seating and new equipment, including a flying fox and timber balance beams.
Local primary students have also helped out, by planting shrubs and trees.
The work is expected to be finished by the end of next month.
