The Church Street overpass at Maitland has opened to traffic,alleviating congestion at the busy railway station roundabout.
The $51-million project diverts eastbound traffic from the intersection, which sees more than 40,000 vehicle movements a day.
Upgrade work on the New England Highway will continue, with night closures expected over the coming weeks.
