- The bill for the same sex marriage plebiscite could be introduced today, but there’s still no certainty it will pass, or take place at all. Bill Shorten is expected to tell Labor MPs to block the bill in the coming weeks.
- A 36-year-old mother has faced court, charged over the alleged murder of her toddler in Sydney’s south-west. The two-year-old girl’s body was allegedly found covered in a bath tub.
- Researchers in the UK have found a way that humans could possibly conceive without eggs. The trial, on mice, at the University of Bath has used skin cells to develop embryos.
- There are still remnants of winter in New South Wales, with cases of flu and pneumonia on the rise, and thousands more, still expected.
- And finally the UK is sweltering through an English-style heatwave with temperatures rising above 30 degrees.
