EXPLOSIVE HUNTER FINDINGS IN ICAC REPORT
The Hunter fallout of the ICAC’s investigation into NSW electoral funding continues, with explosive findings handed down today.
The report finds former Hunter and Central Coast MPs, including Andrew Cornwell, Garry Edwards, Chris Hartcher, Tim Owen and Chistopher Spence, “acted with the intention of evading laws” relating to political donations.
Disgraced former Newcastle Lord Mayor, Jeff McCloy, was also found to have acted with the intention of evading laws on political donation caps.
The commission has recommended that advice be taken from the DPP to prosecute former Member for Charlestown Andrew Cornwell for giving false or misleading evidence to the commission and former Member for Terrigal Chris Hartcher for an offence larceny.
The threat of prosecution also hangs over Andrew Cornwell’s wife, Samantha Brookes, with the commission recommending DPP advice be sought in regards to her public inquiry evidence.
