DRIVER OF HEAVY VEHICLE ALLEGEDLY INVOLVED IN CRASH HAD BEEN DISQUALIFIED

Police have revealed the driver of a truck, which allegedly crashed into a parked car before coming to rest in shrubs near Morisset, had been disqualified from driving heavy vehicles.

Around 1:30pm yesterday, witnesses reported that a vehicle was being driven erratically on the M1, south of the Mandalong Road interchange.

The prime mover allegedly hit a parked car in an emergency lane, before driving up an embankment, almost rolling, and coming to rest among a number of shrubs and trees.

The 62-year-old driver of the parked car was not injured.

The driver of the heavy vehicle, a 27-year-old Gledswood Hills man, returned a negative breath test before being taken to hospital to undergo mandatory testing.

Investigations revealed that his heavy vehicle licence had been disqualified.

Police expect to pursue legal action when he is discharged from hospital.
