- The Federal Government maintains the census website wasn’t hacked or attacked – and that no data was lost, in last night’s outage. Speaking this morning, Minister Michael McCormack described the incident as an attempt to frustrate the collection of Australian Bureau of Statistics census data. The ABS website was shut down just after 7:30pm, after a series of denial-of-service attacks.
- Terrified residents were preparing to jump for their lives from a burning block in Sydney, before being rescued this morning. Around 20 people were plucked from the three story building at Villawood, just after 2am. Eight people were treated by paramedics – five were taken to hospital.
- Police are hunting three men following a stabbing on the Gold Coast. A 34-year-old man was chased down and stabbed three times by two men at Labroador yesterday afternoon – fleeing in a getaway car.
- The Commonwealth Bank has recorded a cash profit of $9.45-billion dollars – up three per cent on last year.
- Republican Donald Trump has sparked widespread anger, suggesting Democratic rival Hillary Clinton could be stopped by his supporters by exercising their gun rights.
- And Mick Fanning has caught plenty of waves – but this could be his coolest one yet. Fanning braved freezing temperatures in Alaska, picking up this nice little break, which was created by a chunk of a glacier which fell into the freezing water.
