PORT STEPHENS MARITIME HISTORY ON SHOW
Visitors to Port Stephens will be gifted the opportunity to learn about the region’s rich maritime history, while taking in spectacular views.
The Mariners Walk was unveiled today, including eight sites along the stretch between Corlette and Salamander Bay.
“On each location there’s a story about a ship or some people or ships that came by and here we have the naval ships that went to sea in the first world war and the submarines that were lost so we think they’re important things to remind people of,” said President of the Port Stephens Historical Society, Dennis Corr
The project, undertaken by the Port Stephens Historical Society and other community partners, was three years in the making.
