Our region has produced two of Australia’s best female cricketers in recent years in Sarah Andrews and Leah Poulton.
Now Cricket Australia and Cricket New South Wales are looking to use the Lower Hunter as a pilot area for an open age women’s competition.
As well as matches, it will include skills training and expert coaching.
And for men, the Newcastle Association is creating an over-35s division.
