SWANS TO REMEMBER FALLEN STAR
The life of late AFL player Dean Webb will be celebrated this weekend, during a series of special matches hosted by the Lismore Swans.
Club veterans will compete in an old boy’s game, before the hosts play Byron Bay in the inaugural Dean Webb Cup.
Webb, one of the club’s leading all-time goal kickers, died late last year following a battle with skin cancer.
“From that day on, we said we’ll definitely try and raise awareness and funds towards the melanoma institute of Australia.”
“Australia has the highest rate of melanoma in the world and here in the Northern Rivers, we actually have the highest rate in Australia.”
Players run onto Mortimer Oval at midday on Saturday.
