TWO CHARGED FOLLOWING AGGRAVATED BREAK AND ENTER

A man and a woman have been charged following an aggravated break and enter at Wallsend.

Police say the 42-year-old man allegedly forced his way into a Thomas Street home at around midday yesterday, armed with a knife and replica firearm.

He spoke with two people before leaving.

The man later returned to the house with a 26-year-old woman and allegedly threatened the occupants, before stealing mobile phones and a car.

The pair was arrested at Jesmond and taken to Waratah Police Station, where they were charged with a string of offences.

Both are due to face court today.
